  • How often should I use moisturizer?

Depending on your skin type, other products in your skincare routine are best used just once a day, but we recommend applying moisturizer to your skin twice daily, once in the morning and again at night. This ensures that your skin is hydrated throughout the day and as you sleep.

  • Which moisturizer is best for me?

As with all other steps in your skincare routine, it’s best to choose a moisturizer based on your skin type.

    • Oily skin: Use a lightweight, oil-free moisturizer that won’t clog pores or leave your skin feeling greasy.
    • Dry skin: Use a heavier moisturizer with a rich formula designed to provide long-lasting hydration.
    • Combination skin: Using two different moisturizers may be the best way to give the different areas of your face what it needs. Alternatively, you can use a moisturizer that strikes a balance of keeping your dry areas hydrated without feeling too heavy on the oily areas.
    • Normal skin: Use any lightweight, non-comedogenic moisturizer.
    • Sensitive skin: Use a moisturizer that’s free of any potentially irritating ingredients such as fragrances or harsh chemicals. Remember to patch test to avoid an allergic reaction!
  • What products are good for hydration?

To keep your skin hydrated, you’ll need to use a moisturizer daily. We offer several options that provide different levels of hydration, including our Primed & Ready 2-in-1 hydrating primer and our lightweight Hydrate Skin Smoothie. Moisturizers not only prevent the skin from developing dryness and flakiness, but they also help keep skin soft and supple.

Many people assume applying moisturizer is the only way to hydrate skin, but there’s much more to it than that. When your skin is extra thirsty, supplement your routine with hydrating skincare products like a face mask or serum.

  • Do I need hydration if I have oily or acne-prone skin?

Yes! Those with oily or acne-prone skin often think they should prioritize oil control by drying out their skin as much as possible, but doing so backfires. When skin dries out, this triggers the sebaceous glands to overproduce oil to compensate, which then causes more clogged pores and new or worsened breakouts. Hydrating skincare products are especially important if you use any type of acne medication or treatment that can cause dry patches on the skin. Just be sure to only use non-comedogenic products to avoid clogging your pores.

Overall, every skin type benefits from daily hydration!

  • What else can I do to keep my skin hydrated?

Our skin becomes thinner as we age so its ability to retain moisture gets weaker over time. While using a moisturizer is essential, here are a few more tips on how to hydrate your skin and maintain your glow.

    • Use a humidifier. By adding moisture to the air, your skin’s hydration level increases. Humidifiers are especially useful during the colder seasons because they help battle the cool, dry air and low humidity of the winter months.
    • Drink plenty of water. Dehydration can cause the skin to become more prone to various disorders and premature fine lines and wrinkles.
    • Use a hydrating serum. Try one containing hyaluronic acid, a highly hydrating ingredient that helps skin retain moisture.
  • What’s the difference between dry skin and dehydrated skin?

Dry skin refers to a skin type whereas dehydrated skin refers to a skin condition. Dry skin is characterized by a lack of oil or sebum needed to help skin retain moisture and protect the skin barrier. Dehydrated skin is due to a lack of water, which can be caused by several different factors like environment, weather, and diet.
